MkeSCD Board Meeting

January 20, 2023

Attendance: Joh Fitak, Rebecca Winnie, Terry Garner, John McCormick, Ursula Smith, Carol King, Wandy Mezio, Valerie Lau

John Fitak calls the meeting to order at 7:07 pm

HALLOWEEN DANCE 2023

We discussed what things went well at the dance and what things we could improve.

We didn’t get as many people as we hoped.

Journeys gave us a fair deal.

We lost money even though we had a donation towards our dance but we still came up short. We are finding the dances are not as well attended since we people are getting older, not wanting to drive at night, and not as many younger dancers.

It seems to be the new normal since COVID.

Val motioned that we maintain the cost at $25 / person and Ursula seconded

There was some discussion that we should wait and see what the musicians cost will be and decided if we want to raise the price or keep the same. We can table it until the next meeting.

Set up – Ursula was in charge and was concerned that she wasn’t going to get enough help or have enough supplies, such as table cloths, paper plates, cutlery, etc.

Registration – there was some confusion since people came for a walk thru and thought they were paying for the dance. We need to make sure there is a separation between the two events. The walk throughs were very positive and people enjoyed the hour and a half of the walk thru’s which gave them enough time to have lunch and get changed into their costumes.

Halloween Dance for 2023 we discussed that we should have it the last Saturday in October, which will be on October 28. Val made a motion to keep the dance on Oct 28 and John Fitak seconded. Motion carried.

Rebecca will start talking to the musicians and them scheduled.
